The International Welcome Week last for a week, just before the beginning of the 1st Semester courses. This event is organized by the FHNW ‘international office and only exchange students can participate in it.
During one week, we moved all across Switzerland to do various activities. Each day had its special(s) activity(ies). We visited the Frey Chocolate factory located in the canton of Aarau. We also had the opportunity to discover the Swiss Parliament located in Berne, we even saw the deputies working in the Deputy ‘Chamber.
My favorite activity was the visit to the Novartis Campus located in Basel. We had a guided tour by one of the Novartis’ employees. Walking through this campus was just amazing.
I never thought before that some companies have those kinds of infrastructures for their employees. All the buildings and places were made to improve the working capacity of the employees. In this campus, the employees can work whenever they want at the moment that their missions are done at the end of the day.
The aim of the International Welcome Week was to make the exchange students feel comfortable and start to create links with each other. And it works!
I meet a lot of people there and most of them became my friends for the rest of the semester.
This weekend was a sort of introduction through the Swiss culture and I fully enjoyed it.
