Discovering Europe
Living in Switzerland offers the possibility to travel all around Europe for accessible prices. As a student who lives on his own, the prices of traveling can be considered as expensive and inaccessible. But don't worry! By living in Olten, you are literally in the middle of Europe wich lower the traveling prices.
This year abroad will offer you the chance to discover your residence country but also plenty of others, which can be far away but also close.
Thanks to my year abroad, I've had the chance to travel a lot inside Europe. Taking the opportunity of traveling during this special year can only be positive for a student. It allows to discover new cultures and places. A trip has also a huge social part. You'll meet new people with different ways of thinking due to their cultures and countries.
My friends and I, have visited various European cities but I've decided to show you the must-do cities in my opinion.
Milano​
At only 6 hours by bus and 1 by plane from Olten, Milano is one of the best city to visit in Europe. We have felt by going there that Milano was a condensed of the famous aspects of the Italien culture. We experienced Italian cuisine which is as good as everybody said!
We also visited the famous touristic places of the city like the Sforza Castle or the Duomo Milan. Fashion and Art amateurs, this city is made for you. With all the luxury shops such as Versace, Zanotti and many others and the art galleries you'll have a lot to do by going there.
My Advice: We stayed one weekend there, which was clearly not enough to discover all the city.
Amsterdam​
One of the greatest small city in the world. From Amsterdam canals to the well-known museums of the city, Amsterdam will totally convince you. During our trip to Amsterdam, we wanted to discover the cultural side of the city. We visited the Van Gogh Museum but also the Rijksmuseum which regroups more than 800 works of famous artists.
For a lot of people, Amsterdam is a destination for weed smokers. Even if it's true and this activity is very important here, as a nonsmoker man, I didn’t feel I was missing something by not trying to smoke.
My advice: You have to try at least once the Dutch cheese.
Berlin​
At 1 hour and 30 minutes from Olten by plane, Berlin is mandatory for you to visit!
You'll discover that Berlin is not only high on History (Berlin Wall, The East Side Gallery, and many others) but also a party paradise. Berlin groups the best techno-music clubs in Europe but also the best regular clubs and bars. The multiculturality of the city in term of architecture and art offers an unforgettable experience to the travelers.
My advice : Check the weather there before reserving your train ticket, it could be rainy.
